Problem

Downloading Summary Table or Request Search request results from the PopMedNet Query tool in excel format produces the following error:

Solution

This the correct behavior. When responses are exported from a network query tool in Excel format, they are saved in the OpenXML Office format. This format allows the file to be opened by the widest range of spreadsheet applications, including very old versions of excel. When the file is double clicked, the exported file is given the XLS extension. In Office 2007 or later, Excel warns about this discrepancy (XML format but XLS extension) even though it can still open the file. 

Click Yes on the error message to open the file. The results will not be corrupted.
