HCSRN VDW
The VDW is a virtual data warehouse consisting of parallel databases at each HCSRN site that are queryable and are capable of running distributed analytic code. Each database is derived from the local electronic data system and then reconfigured to consist of standard variable names and coded values defined in the VDW data model. Each site maintains their own data behind a firewall. Using these parallel databases an analytic database can be constructed and used. Data areas included in the VDW data model are: demographics, enrollment, encounters, procedures, diagnoses, providers, cancer/tumor registry, pharmacy dispensings, vital signs, and laboratory values. There is a catalog of macro programs that are maintained and can be used in analytics involving the data.
