Creating the ODBC Connection

If your database is stored in Microsoft Access, you must create an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connection to your data source.

Follow these steps to create an ODBC connection:

  1. Navigate to the ODBC Data Source Administrator Tool:

    Operating System
    ODBC Tool Location
Windows XPControl Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC)
Windows 7Search "ODBC" in the Windows search bar and select "Data Sources (ODBC)" or navigate to Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC)
  2. Click on the System DSN tab and click the "Add" button.
  3. In the Create New Data Source window, choose Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *accdb) and click "Finish"
    1. If you do not have Microsof Access Driver as an option, you must download the drivers manually. Access drivers are no longer automatically included with the DataMart client. Microsoft Access Database Drivers can be downloaded here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255
  4. Enter the Data Source Name and locate the database:
    1. Enter a name of your choice under Data Source Name.
    2. Click the “Select” button to locate your database. Click "OK" and then click "OK" again to save.
